Counting Correctly
Episode #61 of the Third Turn Podcast with Julaine Smith

In today’s episode, guest Julaine Smith shares about the importance and value of knowing your business by the numbers. And she clearly demonstrates in this the value she brings as a business coach, in helping business leaders/owners understand their business by the numbers.
Her passion and purpose is helping entrepreneurs start, grow, and build their companies. And helping them do so in a way that translates their compelling vision into a compelling words-and-numbers story. As she says:

‘That's the kind of opportunity we have to help owners unlock their value…they come to us, they have the idea…the business idea. They know that they have a customer segment that they're going to serve. They understand that part. But what they don't understand is, how do I capture that value in the story, the words and the numbers.’

Julaine knows how to make those numbers really count--helping guide, support, and monitor vision and growth.

  • Supporting a vision for the future with a well-documented business plan, a strong management team, and adequate working capital.
  • Strategically integrating both operating and capital expenditures in support of the vision and plan.
  • Helping leaders grow in their own understanding of the power in their numbers.

She shares her own interesting career journey of seeing both in and beyond the numbers. And the unexpected pivot that shifted her own sights from leading finance for a larger organization, to instead helping entrepreneurs develop their businesses and themselves in the process. To see deep purpose beyond profit.

Thanks, Julaine, for your vision and the articulate way you help us count in a more compelling way, and see future value spring to life in the numbers and beyond.
