This blog post is an illustration of amplification!
We are going to point you toward a post by Dennis Gingerich, our guest on episode 23 of the Third Turn Podcast. His subject is that some leaders need to be needed and how that need blocks their ability to renew, refresh, problem solve, and in effect grow as a leader for the long-term. He draws on some recent writing from Carey Nieuwhof as he makes his point.
The notion of using restraining muscles in one's Third Turn rather than the overused ones that push and attack has become a significant conversation among our Maestro clients who are in their Third Turn. They talk about it as so hard, so difficult to master. Reading Dennis' thoughts we cannot help but wonder if needing to be needed is one of those obstacles to overcome, and perhaps one of the reasons it is so hard to develop other leaders in our wake. Can it be that it is not so much the ineptness of others, but our own getting in the way because we don't know who we are if we are not the hero?
Is a Maestro-level leader cohort for you?
