Growing Generous Hearts
Walk into a dark room we’ve not entered before and our first response is to start groping the walls for where we intuitively feel the light switch must be. Repeat the action a bit later and groping requires less effort. Enter the same darkened room repeatedly and the switch gets flipped without looking or thinking. The action becomes an extension of us and we assume it will keep working
The way a ministry leader talks about finances tells a story. Recently, I have heard a number of leaders making a pitch for funds. Many of those conversations start off something like this: "Our expenses are rising, but our main funders don't seem to realize that - they're cutting our funding from their budgets. We need money to pay staff, keep up facilities, and run our programs. We're running short, so we're asking you to help."
