Matt holds a diverse background of expertise to assist churches, non-profits, educational institutions and small businesses with a variety of organizational needs.
Matt worked extensively as a computer systems administrator, focusing on strategic hardware implementation, client desktop support and network maintenance. He also served on the board of several ministries and denominational organizations.
Matt also serves as the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Warren, Ohio since 2005. Along the way, Matt gained experience in the discovery, planning and implementation of organizational change; church and non-profit bylaws revision; managing church-run college student housing; non-profit fund accounting; personal mentoring and counseling; and ecumenical cooperation.
Matt has a passion for seeing individuals and organizations transformed in order to reach their full potential, and works with small business, church, non-profit, higher education and secondary education settings, especially with organizations encountering the difficulties brought about by the combined social, technological and economic change in which we live.
Matt works with executives, boards, pastors, department heads, owners and key leaders in organizations to analyze their goals, structures, workflows, constituencies, audiences or customers, and key relationships to help design approaches to solving organizational problems.
Matt’s skills as a teacher of the Bible, history and theology can help churches and ministry organizations work through this process in a way that reflects their faith tradition.
Matt’s understanding of bookkeeping, bylaws and computer systems enable him to offer practical solutions to organizations undergoing transformation. Moreover, his use of flowcharting and other data visualization techniques helps organizations get a handle on the issues at hand in ways that can be communicated to the wider organization.
Matt holds an M. Div. from Northern Seminary and a B.A. in History and Classics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
